23Mar (2) Taipei-Hualien
Meet at Taipei Railway Station at 7:30am, a blend new express train “Taroko Express” will take us to the east coast city of Hualien. Upon arrival, a motor coach is waiting at station and take us to Taroko National Park. It’s well known marble gorge was carved by the powerful water of the Liwu River, and create the scenery spots like Tunnel of Nine Turns Trail, Baiyang Trail, Swallow’s Mouth etc…
Lunch at Tien Hsiang. Dinner will be served at a local restaurant with its private recipe, the Plum Grill Chicken. (B.L.D.)
24Mar (3) Hualien-Taitung-Chihpen
After breakfast, we will drive along the East Coast, enjoy the view of those strange rock formations, Caves of the eight immortals, Platform of the three immortals, small fishing port and Taiwan monkeys etc… Tonight, we will stay in Royal Chihpen Hotel for its famous Chihpen Hot Spring.
25Mar (4) Chihpen-Bunon Tribe Village-Jiaushi
This morning we will visit the Bunon Tribe Village and listen to their beautiful traditional 8 harmony song. After lunch, take “Star of Round Island” Express back to Jiaushi. The train will run thru the Taitung Valley which is situated between two mountain ranges. While passing thru the peaceful valley , if you like, you may also enjoy the Karaoki provided by the Taiwan Railway in a separate compartment on the train. We will arrive Jiaushi around 6pm. Stay overnight at Royal Jiaushi Hotel, enjoy the famous Jiaushi hot spring (different mineral spring from Chihpen).
26Mar (5) Jiaushi-Taiping National Forest Recreation Area-Taipei
Due to the road condition, we will use the mini van to go up to Taiping mountain where is now designed as national forest recreation area. In the clear day, you may view the Snow Mountain range and Pacific Ocean. In the forest, many red and yellow Taiwan cypress still stand there for thousand years. After dinner, we will drive thru the “Shiehsan Tunnel” back to Taipei. No accommodation is provided tonight.

30Mar (2) Tokyo-Shuzenji
Early in the morning, we are going to visit Tsukiji, the liveliest and largest fish market in the world. Enjoy sushi at sushiya nearby the market, we will go back to the hotel then proceed to Shuzenji in Izu Peninsula. Founded by Master Kobo in 807AD, Shuzenji is not only the shrine but also a famous hot spring town. And because of its climate, hot spring and elegant surrounding, Shuzenji become the hermitage of famous scholar such as Kawabata Yasunari (Nobel Prizes 1968), Natsume Soseki, & Okamoto Kido….Enjoy the Kaiseiki dinner after the hot spring bath in the hotel.

“Odoriko of Izu” (The dancing girl of Izu) is the first book of Kawabata Yasunari, telling a beautiful love story of young Kawabata admiring a lovely girl of the dancing group and follow her till Shimoda. Today, we will follow their step from Shuzenji to Shimoda with a beautiful scenery and waterfalls en route. Enjoy the hot spring and seafood dinner tonight. (B.L.D.)

On March 31, 1854, Commodore Perry of US Fleet arrived Shimoda and forced the Shogun to open its port to American trade. And this is also the place first American Consulate located in Japan. This morning we will visit Hofukuji with the sad story of Geisha Okichi and the first US Consul Townsend Harris. And then take the cable car to the Peak of Nesugata Mountain where you may enjoy the beautiful view of the Shimoda Harbor. After lunch, we will heading to the north along the east coast line and arrive the coast town-Ito. Again enjoy the hot spring tonight. (B.L.D.)
02Apr (5) Ito-Tokyo
While taking the morning on-sen bath, you may watch the first light of sun rise as well. For sure, it is unforgettable scenery when the sun jumps out from the sea. After breakfast, we will drive back to Tokyo. The afternoon is free at leisure. A farewell party is waiting for you tonight. (B.L.D.)
